Children and Special Needs Adults

CHILDREN ARE SPECIAL

At The Surgery Center of Cullman, we work hard to meet the special needs of children and create a relaxed, comfortable environment for them.  You may bring your child’s favorite toy or blanket, pajamas, diapers, and personal bottle or cup to the center on the day of surgery.

We will provide juice and/or popsicles for your child in the recovery area after surgery.  If your child is still on formula, you may want to bring a prepared bottle for him/her to have after surgery, however, please know that formula, milk or milk products do sometimes cause nausea and/or vomiting following surgery.

You may stay with your child in the preoperative area until surgery begins and then rejoin him/her in the recovery area as soon as it is appropriate.

We encourage parents to discuss the surgery with their child beforehand to alleviate stress.  Please feel free to call us to arrange a tour of the facility prior to surgery.
